Our Flight Operations group is looking for someone to coordinate Operations Training curriculum development, delivery, and trainee assessment methods across in-space programs. We are a hard-working team developing robotic and crewed missions that will impact the history of space exploration!
Advanced Development Programs is responsible for all of Blue Origin's orbital and planetary flight systems, services, and products, including the Orbital Reef, Blue Moon commercial lunar lander, innovative spaceflight capabilities, and a wide range of concepts, proposals, and technology development projects for our product lines.
As a Manager of the Operations Training Team in the Flight Operations group of the Flight Sciences section, you will be responsible for building and managing strategic technical capabilities essential to the operation of spacecraft with diverse concepts of operation. This team is comprised of experts in the following disciplines - Flight and Crew Operations training curriculum design, including specialty course material development, training delivery, simulation scenario development and exercise facilitation, performing assessments and certifying trainees, designing and executing simulation campaigns to confirm mission team readiness. The ideal candidate is someone who brings creative ideas, along with the persistence and passion to build a program and team from the ground up. Responsibilities
Directly manage a team of 5-15 team members skilled in the disciplines mentioned above
Develop and manage the people, processes, and tools essential for best-in-class performance in these subject domains
Cultivate an evolving, rightsized workforce; oversee performance, merits, and promotions; shepherd team members' careers through coaching, opportunity matching, and technical development
Dedication to establish a respectful, safe environment for learning
Dedication to building a cohesive team through leadership, problem-solving skills, and strong listening and communications skills
Provide expertise, ensuring that your team's deliverables meet domain quality standards
Benchmark the team's work standards and tools with other Blue Origin business units and industry trends
Contribute in one or more of the technical areas mentioned above, providing support directly to programs within the business unit
Exemplify best practices, balanced technical judgment, and superior work ethic
Qualifications:
Required:
B.S. or B.A. degree in a relevant field - such as engineering, instructional design, education, or communication
8 years of experience in defining, developing, validating, and executing technical training for engineers working in a high technology operational environment
Experience writing technical training course materials (lesson objectives and plans, evaluation criteria, hands-on training activities)
Experience authoring training plans, maintenance and operations manuals, and other technical documents
Basic systems engineering experience - such as requirements development and execution of verification and validation
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
First principles knowledge of all major spacecraft subsystems
Experience training and developing operations personnel and/or astronauts for human spaceflight missions
Experience with robotic space missions
Experience with human spaceflight

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
