The Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring items or services are purchased from specified suppliers and are delivered upon agreed terms and conditions, seeking maximum value for the company including quality, better Lead time and cost. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality purchasing services on a day-to-day basis according to defined procedures, respecting quantity, quality, and timing. This person ensures quality of services provided and contributes to improvement and knowledge management of purchasing processes.
Responsibilities:
These responsibilities are activities that correspond to the metro stops and key processes.
➢ Qualify Purchasing Request
➢ Create and Maintain Purchase Order
➢ Launch Sourcing Project
Additional Responsibilities
•Be responsible for purchase order (PO) processing.
• Support the user defining purchase requests when needed.
• Define the correct buying channel for each request; choose the best supplier in terms of price, quality and lead time.
• Ensure that a PO is created correctly (BORG info / Cost Center, currencies, quantity, etc.), and
follow up on any issues related to PO creation.
• Create and dispatch supplier POs to supplier.
• Involve and re-assign to the Spot Buyer in spot buys when no catalogs are available, and the PO
cost exceeds $5K.
• Involve the P2P Specialists in spot buys when local knowledge is required or if purchase threshold
is exceeded (over $100K)
• Manage day-to-day interactions with suppliers and P2P Specialist.
• Escalate complex issues to the Category Procurement Leader.
• Perform knowledge management.
• Perform problem solving for noncomplex issues with operations users.
• Trigger catalog and buying guide updates when required.
• Propose documentation changes and process improvements when required.
• Track deviations and raise nonconformances in QUEST.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Use all required procurement tools when required or mandated by process (SWPS, SAP, Oracle,
Ariba, ASL, QUEST).
• Uphold HSE, TCC, Code of Ethics, Gift Policy, Schlumberger Financial Manual (SFM), Blue Prin t
• Comprehensive understanding of Schlumberger Procurement and ERP Systems.
• Knowledge of the Procure To Pay (P2P) Process, Approved Procurement channels, Approved Supplier
List, and Supplier Identification
• Technical and supplier knowledge for one category and potential business segment
Required and Desired Skills:
Professional
▪ Previous experience in transactional procurement and/or supply chain function plus but not mandatory
▪ Previous experience in commercial negotiating with suppliers
▪ Effective Business Communication (Written and Oral)
Technical
▪ Ability to interact in English and potentially other language relevant in local hub
Expertise
▪ For Global IT Category → Knowledge of IT hardware
▪ For FES (Field Equipment and Services) Category → Knowledge of engineering, mechanics and/or electrical equipment
▪ For Chemicals Category → specific knowledge for the category
Behavioral
▪ Passion for customer service
▪ Effective at cross-functional / cross-cultural teamwork
▪ Ability to interact with operations persons on basic technical requests
▪ Ability to work quickly and on numerous requests simultaneously while under timeline pressures
Education:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering or Manufacturing (or comparable degree) or requisite work experience
Reports to:
▪ Procurement Specialist reports directly to the Category Leader or Category Team Lead.
