SUMMARY: Reporting to Sr. Director Corporate Indirect Procurement this position is responsible for strategic and tactical management of a Procurement category tower. It will involve team leadership collaboration with key business leadership and stakeholders formulating value realization and customer satisfaction strategies and developing procurement programs and approaches for multiple categories in Corporate Function areas including Sustainability Legal Finance Accounting and Insurance . The successful candidate must be able to focus on balancing superior service to internal business clients with maximized value for the company of items services purchased. This position will drive the Business Unit strategy and agenda across Corporate Indirect Procurement through effective communication and interaction within the company. Direct responsibilities of the function include: Fostering strategic relationships with key leaders in the business at the leadership level in line with categories listed above; acting as positive challenger influencer; applying procurement best-practices in order to achieve optimal balance of financial benefit and healthy sustainable supplier relationships; working with Procurement peers to ensure support of and alignment to the supported function; direct management and development of resources senior managers level category managers and support personnel -specialist analyst roles . This position will work closely with the stakeholders in various Business Units, R&D, FSQA, Operations and Shared Service organizations to provide innovative new products and services to meet business objectives. In addition, this position will lead Sr. Managers and Managers in Sourcing & Category Management functions. Duties of the position will include supporting management s vision for the execution of Procurements multi-year plan; executing the procurement life cycle for categories personally accountable as well as oversight for direct peers categories; participation in frequent steering meetings to measure and discuss supplier performance relative to Tyson s performance expectation; developing Continuous Improvement strategies for the responsible categories and directing resources relating to project management; executing strategies that will develop the supplier-Tyson relationship while continuously fostering this model to support proactive technology and innovation ideas that will ensure the competitiveness of Tyson in the marketplace. This position will also be responsible for measuring and reporting category savings on a quarterly basis. This will include a savings analysis compared to established goals and objectives for the category. This position will be responsible for monitoring commodity market activity and conditions to determine overall strategy to eliminate the cost impact to the Tyson Foods Company. This position will require market forecasting for budgets and analyzing budget versus actual costs. Key competency expectations for the role are the ability to deeply understand and utilize most procurement processes tools and systems execute oversee lifecycle management process be a proven expert in category planning development execution as well as ability to achieve tangible results in competitive and non-competitive supplier negotiations both directly and as a coach to others. Procurement category knowledge and experience in the areas of Corporate Sustainability and Consulting are a must; Legal Finance Internal Audit Insurance and Tax procurement experience is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelors degree in business or related field or equivalent experience a must; MBA desirable Experience: 12 plus years of procurement experience in related field in category focus areas as listed above e.g. Sustainability would include energy facilities services waste disposal recycling environmental and familiarity with business and contract law as applied to supplier relationships required; Exposure to casualty property management program development and global sourcing is a plus.

Heavy IT category management experience required.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; experience in spreadsheet database and statistical analysis are necessary. Exposure and experience with procure to pay systems is a plus e.g. ARIBA .

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; formal presentations are required.

Special Skills: Strong negotiating skills; ability to multi-task attention to detail organized; exemplary customer service skills; judgment to handle confidential information and challenging business situations; ability to lead and influence others; effective and proven strategic planning
