IT Operations Manager
We are looking for a strong IT Operations Manager who brings a passion for technology and has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The IT Operations Manager reports to the Vice President of Engineering and will manage a team of Developers, and operations personnel providing oversight for the support of production, test and development environments (physical, virtual, on and offsite), the Software Configuration Management capability, and all internal systems and environments utilized in our Raleigh development center.
This individual will work with other team leaders to translate the organization's core strategy into specific infrastructure roadmaps and deliverables, measure the effectiveness of the delivery model, and track progress against plan and operational Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
In addition, this person will be responsible for providing technical leadership and leading efforts to research, analyze and recommend improvements, upgrades and new technologies surrounding all aspects of our production and internal systems and processes. The IT Operations Manager will have direct accountability for software configuration management function, systems and optimization of resources for a global team of engineers.
Responsibilities
•Own operation support activities for production systems. Responsibilities include resource management, high availability, security management, backup and recovery, upgrade, and monitoring
•Create and maintain an environment that encourages career growth, teamwork, and overall employee engagement
•Oversee troubleshooting of issues and provide timely resolutions to business customers for supported platforms
•Concisely and effectively communicate progress, status and issues to management
•Work with engineering and other cross-functional team management to define operation project requirements, solutions and schedules
•Work with Engineering to define and implement a world-class software configuration management system.
•Manage team resources, task priorities and schedules
•Work closely with engineering and QA team to ensure proper QA and development environments for product development.
•Serve as point of contact with external technology vendors and customers as required.
•Manage the internal operational needs of the R&D Engineering group using both Internal and external data centers.
•Manage internal/external facing development toolsets and environments
Detailed Experience/Skills Required
•Four year college degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience desired
•4 years participating in budget planning and managing capital spending for hardware, software & services
•6 years primary responsibility for mission and business critical 24x7 systems
•Extensive experience in project requirements analysis, workflow planning, and scheduling
•Excellent technical and business communication skills
•Proven ability to identify and resolve infrastructure issues
•Expert with Unix/Linux as a development and deployment platform
•Experience with database technologies such as Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server
•Experience with developing J2EE applications using technologies like Struts, Spring, Hibernate
•Team player with superior interpersonal skills and proven experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic and cross-functional team environment
Desired
•Experience with emerging database technologies like Hadoop, Cluodera, etc.
•Experience with one or more JavaScript libraries or frameworks (such as ExtJS, Prototype, JQuery, GWT, Dojo)
•Proven experience in developing applications in an agile environment
•Experience working with a continuous integration environment using tools like SVN, Jira, Pulse, Bamboo
•Strong curiosity and desire to learn
•PMI PMP certification a strong plus
