JOB OVERVIEW
The College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a Materials Management Coordinator in the Materials Management & Physical Operations department. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.
The Materials Management Coordinator will assist with the growing needs of the blood center. The desired candidate should have prior experience in materials management and inventory control. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with internal and external customers. The position requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds and ability to push and pull heavy equipment. On-call rotation for weekends and holidays is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Manage the materials management function, including cost estimates, purchasing, receiving, purchase order/records management, distribution, and inventory control ensuring compliance with department procedures and university regulations. *Transport materials to and from departments and ensure adherence to safe handling procedures. *Manage security and risk management issues as they relate to materials handling and distribution. *Establish priorities and maintain work control functions. *Serve as the unit liaison between department and external and internal business partners. *Assist with the development and implementation of new policies, procedures and systems. *Work with housekeeping, facilities, vendors, and outside contractors to facilitate repairs and maintenance. *Work with Quality Assurance unit to implement continuous quality improvement. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Associate's Degree *Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of relevant experience including inventory control, materials management, or stockroom experience.
