Learn more about Splunk careers and how you can become a part of our journey!\u00A0ResponsibilitiesThe core responsibility of this role is to act as the key strategic and operational partner to the Engineering VP in charge of the Splunk Platform. In this role you will be required to deeply understand and contribute to the strategic vision and operational capabilities of the org. Your day to day work will include items such as the below:Build & run a system to manage budgets, including Purchase Orders and travel, for an organization of 400 .Build & run a system to manage headcount across three Senior Directors, with the goal of providing visibility & accountability while always hiring to the most important roles.Support and improve the senior leaders in the org with level-setting, agenda, cadence, etc. including staff meetings, all hands, roadmap reviews, etc.Own and drive organizational communications, including org changes, all-hands, promotion cycles, etcResponsible for championing the creation and/or adoption of processes that will allow us to work more effectively, while ensuring they are consistent with the rest of engineering (e.g. workforce planning, recruiting)Improve a culture of transparency and openness through driving the weekly leadership Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions, highlighting anonymous comments, and ensuring followup for questions that aren\u2019t covered live.Ensuring your VP is prepared for customer meetings and internal reviews by providing with critical data, analysis, metrics and details about key playersWork on critical emerging areas as a \u2018change agent\u2019; example projects may include:Improving Customer Support/Ops/Eng processes and communication interlockDrive consistency in launch criteriaImprove processes between platform and the downstream app teams that depend on usImprove cost modelingWork with the Distinguished Engineers to improve arch reviews (process/docs)Work with the leadership team to define and implement a strong calibration processImprove onboardingBe an extra set of eyes: teams overwhelmed? Not enough celebration? Hidden problems that may not be reaching the VP?Challenge the org and challenge your VP: Are we being honest about project status? Are our goals realistic?QualificationsExperience leading a team of 50 people, and/or leading projects across a 100 person organizationExperience in driving operating rhythm around production and operational meeting - setting agendas, structuring meetings, driving actions across cross functional teamsStrong communication skills \u2013 both written and verbalComfortable working directly with VPs and communicating at SVP/C-levelMust be able to exert influence at all levels, inter- and intra-organizationally.Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to build and manage cross-functional processes.Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work independently, prioritize, and work in a constantly evolving environment.Willing to \u201Cspeak truth to power\u201D and advance issues.Creativity, and the ability to bring a different lens to problems and identify when the problem itself may be defined incorrectly.Direct experience in product and operations as well as a strong discernment are a plus.Location: anywhere; work is primarily Pacific Timezone.
