Description
The Associate Director of Procurement will lead a team of Category Managers to drive cost savings via a robust 7-step process, oversee negotiations, implement contracts, and drive successful supplier relationships. The Associate Director will report directly to Director of Human Capital Category Management, supporting, developing, and implementing the enterprise Back Office Operations, Managed Services & Customer Experience categories. This leader is also responsible for ensuring strong alignment with, and becoming a trusted advisor to, key functional leaders inside and outside of Procurement. This leader will also partner with business and sourcing leadership in Humana's business segments to drive enterprise-wide value.
Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Procurement will lead a team of Category Managers to drive cost savings via a robust 7-step process, oversee negotiations, implement contracts, and drive successful supplier relationships. The Associate Director will report directly to Director of Human Capital Category Management, supporting, developing, and implementing the enterprise Back Office Operations, Managed Services & Customer Experience categories. Responsibilities
Build, develop, and manage team of 5-8 Category Managers engaged in end-to-end Sourcing activities, driving administrative cost savings across the enterprise
Act as a trusted advisor with key business leaders by providing a forward thinking strategy, considering internal / external factors, that aligns to Humana's overall business objectives and values
Develop risk- and probability-adjusted multi-year savings forecasts and annual savings goals
Lead teams in developing category strategies based on sourcing profession best practices, including supply market analyses, Porter's Five Forces, should-cost models, process and domain expertise
Leverage internal and external resources, as part of the operating model, to deliver results in the most effective and efficient way
Implement staff training and development programs to enhance general leadership skills, sourcing expertise, and domain knowledge
Oversee analysis of qualitative and quantitative supplier characteristics, including supplier capabilities, supplier goals and objectives, risk profile, and supplier's financial position for requisite categories
Develop programs to achieve corporate supplier diversity objectives
Manage and lead team through all sourcing activities, including RFI/RFP development and implementation
Work collaboratively with the Continuous Improvement team for multi-business unit project implementations
Actively engage in long-term strategic planning for the full Procurement organization to build capabilities and achieve roadmap goals for FY21 and beyond.
Work closely with Procurement Operations and Corporate Payables to ensure a seamless end-to-end experience
Required Qualifications
4-year degree in related field, preferably in a business or technical discipline
At least 8 years of relevant strategic sourcing / category management experience
Experience leading and coaching procurement professionals
Demonstrated experience in defining the vision, mission, strategy and tactics for the areas of responsibility
Outstanding communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including assertiveness, courage, and the ability to influence others
Excellent relationship management skills, demonstrating mature confidence and integrity
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, both as a lead and as a part of a team
Ability to work in a team environment to collate and act upon feedback from all levels within the business and sourcing environments
Ability to manage multiple priorities of business partners in a complex, multi-business segment environment
Ability to assimilate, analyze, draw conclusions, and make recommendations from multi-faceted and often ambiguous data
Ability to motivate project team members and stakeholders to meet established deadlines
Ability to be flexible and willing to learn new skill sets quickly as the need arises
Must have accessibility to high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (satellite internet service is NOT permitted for this role); and a minimum internet connection speed of 10M x 1M
Up to 20% overnight travel if located outside of Louisville, KY
Preferred Qualifications
At least 2 years of relevant supply chain, BPO, managed service, customer experience industry experience preferred
Experience with Vendor Management Systems (e.g. Beeline, Fieldglass)
