Profile

Warby Parker is searching for a sharp-as-a-tack Material Coordinator to support the creation and sourcing of our frame materials. In this role, you’ll work across departments to translate our in-house Designers’ sketches and ideas into finished products—all while optimizing cost, quality, and lead time. Our ideal candidate is a fast learner who’s excited to dive deep into the development and management of new materials specific to eyewear. You’ll excel in this role if you’re organized, creative, collaborative, and eager to lend a hand to support a variety of projects. Sound a lot like you? Read on!

What you’ll do:

Manage the development process of all custom materials, which includes:

Updating our databases with new material information, color codes, and names

Review all new material samples as they come in and maintain the library of acetates, lenses, and metal standards

Help choose materials based on production location, factory, and construction

Create BOMs (bill of materials) and Input all materials into PLM for prototyping

Report out on adoption ratios for custom developments

Assist in preparing for key meetings by setting up visuals and organizing samples

Understand the design and PD process; maintain databases, line plans, email correspondence

Collaborate with Designers and evaluate all first proto samples for accurate construction, materials, and design intent

Collaborate and incorporate feedback from various internal teams

Support in researching the local market and trends, including color and textures

Manage our physical material library

Be responsible for all NPD color and material QC

Work closely with the Design team throughout the creative process

Who you are:

Backed by 2 years of experience in product development/design, eyewear, jewelry, or other accessory category

The proud owner of a Bachelor’s degree in product or industrial design (or similar discipline)

Knowledgeable about the ins and outs of Adobe Illustrator

A detail-oriented person who has no problem focusing among the hustle of our fast-paced office

A great communicator who takes the initiative to work with our Designers on progress

Known for your laser-focused attention to detail and organizational prowess
