Sr. Distribution Center Operations Manager

 

The primary responsibility of a Sr. DC Operations Manager is managing all aspects of productivity and profitability of a large facility to include:  facility budget, operating costs, productivity, quality, staffing, safety, and associate morale. Also accountable for the management and development of the leadership team as well as providing strategic direction and continuous improvement for the facility.

 

DESCRIPTION:

*Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiencies of the movement and storage of goods. *Analyzing data to monitor performance and plan improvements and demands of the operation. *Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs. Mentoring Operations Managers. *Implementing health and safety standards while motivating and training a team, setting achievable objectives and managing any projects. *Responsible to organize and effectively communicate with department supervisors and managers to ensure a smooth operation. *Requires experience within the transportation and warehousing industry to monitor the flow of goods and understand the complex systems of inventory, delivery times, costs, and personnel management. *Confer with senior leadership to coordinate warehouse activities, goals, labor, sales, production, and financials. *Monitor your own performance as well as others to make improvements or take corrective action. *Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose most appropriate one. *Active listener giving full attention to what people are saying, taking time to understand, ask appropriate follow up questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. *Other duties and responsibilities as required by Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*A four-year College Degree in management, business administration or related study, or five years of related field experience *5 years of experience in Distribution/Warehouse management *3+ years of experience managing exempt associates (supervisors and managers) *A four-year College Degree in management, business administration or related study, or five years of related field experience *Proven track record of success in an Ecommerce order fulfillment environment preferred. *Proven success in mentoring Operations Managers. *Ability to think and operate strategically. *Knowledge of Distribution operations (material handling equipment) and merchandise flow. *Prior experience with the implementation of a new WMS preferred. *Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
