Expected Areas of Competence
The Director, Strategy Operations candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with multiple internal stakeholders to provide operational support to the Enterprise Strategy organization. This position will be responsible for providing strategic insights to the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Strategy, and ensuring consistent, high-quality operational execution within the Enterprise Strategy organization and across the numerous annual Enterprise Strategy work streams (annual portfolio prioritization, Therapeutic Area/Disease Area Strategy Refresh, enterprise sustainability and gap-to-goal modeling). This position will also oversee the Manager, Alliance Operations role. This role will work closely with the Head of Strategy & BD Ops and Director, Business Development Operations to align annual strategy outputs with BD implications.
Key activities
Enterprise Strategy Process Optimization – Run a capability to monitor and continuously improve the operational execution of the BMS Enterprise Strategy group; identify and oversee strategic initiatives for process and systems improvements that impact all annual Enterprise Strategy workstreams with the Strategy group, including portfolio prioritization (working closely with R&D stakeholders), TA/DA strategy refresh (working closely with Commercial Stakeholders), and the sustainability and gap-to-goal refresh process (working closely with Finance BI&A stakeholders).
Strategy Operational Support – Provide direct strategy & operations support to the Head of Enterprise Strategy, assisting with the balance of resource allocation within the Strategy group across the annual work streams, and assisting with key internal and external stakeholder management.
Strategy Development – Support the Enterprise Strategy group with development of strategic plans and refreshes, both load balancing as well as providing supporting project and program management support as needed.
Strategic Initiatives – Support the smooth transition of strategic initiatives from the Enterprise Strategy group as part of annual or ad hoc strategic refreshes, to the Enterprise Operational Excellence group for deployment and execution.
Experience Desired
BA/BS degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
10 years pharmaceutical experience with prior experience in an operational or managing consulting role
Strong management experience including building & managing a team
Strong experience in working with & influencing Senior Management
Experience evaluating & building strong functional capabilities
Experience in developing CEO & Board level communications
Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge & Skills Desired

Able to communicate effectively with internal senior management.
