What’s the role?

IT Operations Lead – Telecom

The IT Operations Lead – Field Telecom is responsible for all Field Telecom services and products delivered to the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) for the Deepwater Line of Business, a growing part of the Upstream portfolio. Partnering with colleagues to provide the best possible user experience to end users, this is an opportunity to play a part in taking Field Telecom into IT operations of the future, applying data and insights to deliver world class services.

You are going to be a key part of the PT-UP-IG-RES Service & Operations Management (SOM) team. This team delivers secure, reliable and affordable E2E IT operations to the Projects & Technology, Upstream, Integrated Gas and Renewables & Energy Solutions and businesses. As IT professionals with a business lens our focus is to unlock value and accelerate Shell’s journey in the energy transition.

Accountabilities include:

Responsible for delivery of all Field Telecom operational services and products for the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). In this capacity, responsible to deliver operational services and projects. This team will include a shared pool of resources working either onsite or traveling offshore on rotation. TA2 and TA3 certifications will be embedded with the team

This role is in the Deepwater SOM team and is responsible for asset service delivery with a dotted line to the central PCD & Field Telecom organization that has global and regional responsibilities. Design engineers will be in the PCD & FT global team for consistency

Key member of the DW GOM natural team for delivery of all IDSO services and products, led by the GOM Sr Site Operations Manager. This includes demand and new and/or changing requirements. Deliver services with existing standards, collaborating with global teams for new services and technologies

Responsible for reviewing services and products for enhancement and continuous improvement opportunities

Responsible for information risk management (IRM) and IT Controls compliance, as well as conformance to Health and Safety policies and legal and regulatory requirements

Responsible for the identification of systemic issues in IT Landscapes, driving structural improvements while balancing costs with business value; supporting Service Operations Management (SOM) in optimizing landscape Total Cost of Ownership

Manage Operational Readiness for new demand, changes and projects impacting the portfolio – including analyzing and understanding business functional and non-functional requirements

Ensure effective Major Incident (MI) management and swift service restoration.

Member of Emergency Response Teams (e.g., Incident Management Team, Crisis Management Team)

What we need from you?

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in IT with IT leadership experience.

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred

Job Grade of Supervisor/Manager: JG3

Proven experience in a multi-disciplined IT environment with strong background in IT operational service delivery, service management and contract management.

Experience with Data Center environment (infrastructure, security, services)

A high degree of technical network knowledge on traditional (IP) networks and systems as well as field telecom solutions such as Satellite, Optical/Radio links, Wireless Canopy, Mobile Radio (DMR/Tetra), Microwave, Fiber Optics, Telephony, Marine and Aeronautical Radio, Sub-marine Fiber and Access Security/CCTV.

Cisco router, switching, and/or security certification is an advantage.

Experience Offshore services, IT infrastructure projects, Offshore IT infrastructure deployments.

Excellent oral and written presentation skills. Create and deliver relevant and impactful communications.

Strong stakeholder management skills.

A continuous improvement mindset to drive operations of the future.

Delivery of IT projects through active participation in project teams and on project steering.

Drive external Service Providers to ensure the service delivered meets contractual and service requirements.

Ability to work outside of regular working hours as required to support IT Incidents, Emergency Response and the GOM Hurricane Incident Command Team.
